How to make a car bulletproof in FiveM (windows and tyres)
Read in: Español · Français · Deutsch · Português · Italiano · Polski · Türkçe · Русский

For a cash transport, a mafia car or a president's convoy you want windows that stop bullets and tyres that never burst. The game already has cars like that, the armoured Kuruma for one. Copying how they do it is the way to get it right.
How the game makes a car bulletproof
There is more than one setting, and they are often mixed up. From the game's own files:
| What | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Bulletproof glass material | each window's collision, in the .yft | that window stops bullets and does not break. The armoured Kuruma has it on every window; some cars only on some (the windscreen only, or only the rear windows). |
FLAG_HAS_BULLETPROOF_GLASS | vehicles.meta | the whole car's glass. Only three of the game's vehicles have it. |
FLAG_HAS_BULLET_RESISTANT_GLASS | vehicles.meta | glass that takes a few shots, then breaks. 37 vehicles have it. Resistant, not bulletproof. |
No wheel burst (0x2000000) | strModelFlags in handling.meta | tyres that never burst. |
The tyres' flag is one digit in strModelFlags. The Kuruma's handling has 440010; the armoured Kuruma's, 2440010. The same effect can come from a script, with SetVehicleTyresCanBurst(vehicle, false), which is what the bulletproof tyres upgrade does.
<strModelFlags>2440010</strModelFlags>A handling can be shared by several cars. Give the flag to a handling the game uses for others, and their tyres stop bursting too.
Armour a car step by step
Open Vehicle Armour and pick one of the game's cars (kuruma, adder, baller3…), or drop your addon car's .yft, _hi.yft and .ytd, with its vehicles.meta and handling.meta.
- Windows. Every window with its own collision is listed and ticked. Use All windows, Front only or None, or click a window on the 3D car to switch it. Purple is made bulletproof, green is already bulletproof.
- Tyres. Tick Bulletproof tyres. Under Advanced, How: the handling flag (the game's way), a client script, or both. When you replace a game car whose handling other cars share, the page tells you which: use the client script to change this car alone.
- Download as: Replace the game car, This car's files for your addon car, or A new addon car with its own name.
- Download,
ensurethe resource (or, with This car's files, put the files over your car's own), and follow the README's checks in game.
When you make a new addon car, or dropped the car's vehicles.meta, Advanced also offers the whole-car bulletproof glass flag. A game car's own vehicles.meta cannot be changed from a resource, so a replaced game car keeps it as it is.
The video tutorial armours a Buffalo and fills it with NPCs to shoot at.
What it does not change
Only windows and tyres. The armoured Kuruma also takes less damage to its body (a damage setting in its handling); Vehicle Armour leaves the body as it is. For other handling values, open the handling.meta in the Handling Editor.
Questions
- Can I make only the windscreen bulletproof?
- Yes. Untick the other windows, or press Front only for the front windows. Some of the game's own cars do just that.
- Is "bullet resistant" glass the same as bulletproof?
- No. Bullet-resistant glass holds a few shots, then breaks. For glass that never breaks, the window's collision needs the bulletproof glass material.

The tool for this
