How to make a floating PvP arena for FiveM (no Blender)

A floating arena is a favourite on PvP and combat servers: a box high in the sky, far from the city, where teams fight with nothing around them, and falling off sends you back. You can buy one, or build one in Blender and CodeWalker. Or design it in your browser in a few minutes and get it as a FiveM resource with its teleport and its kill zone.

What a sky arena needs

  • A floor, walls and cover, with collision on all of them.
  • Glass you can see through. By the game's material data, plain glass (GLASS_SHOOT_THROUGH) lets bullets through, while bulletproof glass (GLASS_BULLETPROOF) stops them and players (and the AI) still see through it.
  • Team spawns and a way in: a command that takes a player there.
  • A safe teleport. Collision so far from the ground only loads near the player, so a player teleported straight up can fall through before it is there.
  • A kill zone under the floor for whoever falls off.

Design it

Open the PvP Map Creator and pick a shape under Start from a shape: Rectangle, 1v1 box, L, U, Cross (four teams or king of the hill), Two levels (a platform up a ramp and stairs), Octagon with glass walls, or Empty.

  1. Size and walls. Drag its corners and sides, set the wall height and Glass on top, and choose what the wall is: Solid, Glass or Bulletproof. Mirror keeps the two halves fair as you edit (Point mirror is the default).
  2. Add cover: cover and low walls, boxes, pillars, ramps, platforms, stairs, glass and bulletproof walls. Each piece has its place, size, heading, height off the floor and what it is made of (stairs are always solid).
  3. Spawns. Add them by team (Team A, Team B, Free for all), or press Place spawns for me for three a team at the two ends.
  4. Look and neon. Floor and wall colours, a floor pattern, the glass tint, and glowing neon edges on the floor, wall tops or obstacles. The neon uses the game's emissive shader, the kind that glows day and night; it does not light what is round it. Add your Logo on the walls or the floor.
  5. On the map. The arena starts 500 m up over the sea west of Del Perro; set your own spot with Pick on the map or by coordinates.
  6. Kill zone. On by default, 8 m under the floor: a player who falls goes Back to a spawn, or is Killed.

The page warns as you build: uneven teams, a spawn off the floor (which stops the download until you move it), ramps too steep to climb, an arena too low or past the edge of the map. The Performance panel grades it Light, OK or Heavy.

Download and play

Name it, pick the command (pvp by default) and click Download the FiveM resource (.zip). Under Advanced you can set the floor and wall surfaces, the draw distance, the texture size, and make the command admin-only (its ace).

The resource holds the arena (model, textures, .ytyp, .ymap and collision) and the scripts. It needs nothing else: no framework, no other resource.

cfg
ensure mics_pvp_arena

In game, /pvp a and /pvp b join a team, /pvp ffa joins free for all and /pvp leave leaves the arena. The teleport fades the screen, asks for the collision at the spot and waits for it (up to 5 seconds) before letting the player go. Your own scripts can use its exports too: SendToArena and RemoveFromArena on the server, Enter, Leave, IsInArena, GetTeam and GetSpawns on the client.

The resource is the arena, not a game mode: there are no rounds, scores or loadouts. Hook your own PvP script into its exports for that.

Questions

Can players see through bulletproof glass?
Yes. It uses the game's bulletproof glass material, which by the game's data is see-through and stops bullets.
How does the teleport keep players from falling through the floor?
It freezes the player, asks for the collision at the arena and waits for it to load (up to 5 seconds) before letting go.
Can I put game props in the arena?
Not in this tool. Lay props out round it with Scene Sandbox and stream them beside it.
